CAPT. RUSSEL – BENETTI M/Y WILLOW

This is the first time actually that I’ve ever been involved with electric stabilizers and I must say I’m very impressed. I’ve been in yachting from quite some time now and I’ve had a number of different systems on board: I’ve had hydraulics, gyro stabilizers and both have their own pluses and minuses, their strength and weaknesses, but I can only
With this product CMC, they are amazingly quiet, they are amazingly efficient at anchor stabilization the fins are quite aggressive because they are working against to balancing the swell. They are incredibly efficient and all round I can’t say highly enough about this product.

C: Have you worked together with the CMC Marine’s guys or did the shipyard dealt with them?

R: In the shipyard we have been fortunate because when we left after delivery, a month before we were involved in some training courses with CMC Marine directly and we had the whole system explained to us, myself and the chief engineer. We came to this training day and we learned a lot more about it, which helped us so that when we were on board we fully understood exactly what it was that we’ve got and how to maintain and how to use it efficiently. So it was a direct relationship with CMC via Benetti’s introduction.

C: You’ve done a lot of this Benetti trainings, right? Because I know they often organize training days…

R: Yes, we did. Before we left again, a lot of the systems on board, standardize produces and we workedwith a number of those Companies that installed our systems onboard so we had a direct relationship, always under the umbrella of Benetti. Very well maintained and it was all very well organized. Gave us that confidence when we left the yard on our own for the very first time, that we had quite a good background of information and knowledge to be able to use the boat efficiently and successfully. In fact we had very very few problems this year, so we are very happy because of that.

C: Do you recall a particular moment in which you were really happy to have the CMC Marine’ stabilizers on board?

R: One particular moment, for example, in at anchor the water is mirror-like, no movement whatsoever the stabilizers are still operational even though they are moving very very little and of course this ferries go out in the middle of the night and out of nowhere you get this meter wave washed trough with 3 or 4 waves following after and immediately they kick in to action. Of course that saves the owner being rolled out of bed in the middle of the night , so, yes, they have been a big help.
