CAPT. WOOLGER – S/Y BEAUGESTE

S/Y “Beaugeste” is a 37meters sailing yacht built by Brooke Marine in 1989 and refitted in 1998.

More recently, since the yacht didn’t have a stabilization system, Owner and captain decided to install a CMC Marine HS80 stab model. “As the yachts get bigger and the voyages longer and mostly managed under engine power, a stabilization system such the Stabilis Electra is a more than welcome option” said Eric Woolger, captain of S/Y Beaugeste. “Costs of sails and rigging are very expensive if compared against cost of stabilisers. It was only logical for us to move in this direction since we read a great deal about CMC Marine from many articles. All the reviews were positive and that’s impressed us the most”.

“Furthermore, what striked us were the incredible perks of CMC Marine stabilization systems such as the small size, the low power consumption, the very low noise and the easy maintenance”, continue Capt. Woolger that was convinced in using CMC Marine systems by its electrical nature since hydraulics was definitely  not an option for S/Y Beaugeste. “The system is running as well if not better than expected, we have done approximately 1,500 nm to date in a variety of conditions and we are still experimenting with the sail and fin combination” but so far crew and owner are extremely happy about CMC Marine.

“We purchased directly from CMC Marine and everyone has been very cordial and helpful, there were two parties representing CMC Marine involved on our project, electrical and mechanical. I was frequently in touch with CMC Marine’s technicians to oversee the installation process and everything went smooth. On top of that, in order to guarantee the most in terms of efficiency the system was also overseen by Lloyds surveyors and our own Naval Architect and everyone has encountered competence and kindness in CMC Marine”.
