October 2008. STABILIS ELECTRA is a revolution in the field of large yacht stabilisation and was on display at the 2008 Genoa Boat Show where a tremendous amount of interest was generated from the technical community.
Stabilis Electra is the revolutionary system being offered by CMC Marine to overcome the problem of diminished dynamics of a mechanical actuator. Stabilis Electra uses a new generation of actuator to move a fin stabiliser connected to a DC motor with a permanent magnet.
This solution greatly simplifies the hardware for the electronic control system which in turn is much more flexible and powerful versus a control system for a hydro-mechanical system.
Moreover, this allows for the control of the fin system with input from various reference parameters such as: power, torque, speed, position and power absorption, to create new highly sophisticated and adaptable control algorithms.
The new STABILIS ELECTRA product integrates perfectly with the entire range from CMC Marine which includes the STABILIS range of mechanically actuated fin stabilisers, from 0.75 to 4 m2 as well as the DUALIS range of counter-rotating twin propeller thrusters from 35 to 250 kW.
CMC MARINE will be present also at METS in Amsterdam where they will be displaying STABILIS ELECTRA and their other products.
